I've been to the posts on but respondents seem more intent on arguing amongst themselves rather than helping people with their queries. Dell 24-inch or Apple 23-inch? Which one, why and will I need an AJA or Black Magic box? Thirdly: I have 2 LaCie FireWire 800 drives - will I need a RAID array?

Secondly: How are other UK or European-based HVX users getting around the lack of support?

Having already used Sony HRV-Z1s to down-convert 1080i HDV footage to DVCAM (in the days before Apple supported HDV codecs), I don't want to have to start using NTSC frame rates (if European HVX-200s have them in the first place). The lack of support maybe a deciding factor in whether I buy this camera after all or change my editing platform from a Mac to a PC. My first question is: when, if at all, is Apple likely to start supporting more DVCPRO PAL formats for the HVX-200? At the moment, as I understand it, only 1080i/50 is supported. I am considering Panasonic's HVX-200 camcorder because of the image quality (from the footage I've seen on the likes of DVX ), the camera's true HD credentials, its size/weight and relative value for money. Up until now, my workflow has been fairly simple Sony VTR FireWired to a Mac running FCP. I am seriously contemplating moving up/over to the HD space by buying an HD/HDV camcorder instead of continually renting. I am a long-time digital camcorder user - from digital betacam camcorders to Sony's famous VX-1000.
